Who we are
The Auditor-General is the independent auditor for the South Australian public sector. As one of the largest external auditing organisations in the state we audit more than 160 departments and agencies. These include education, police, transport, health, housing, arts and many other services.
The Auditor-General's Department employs about 120 employees. Our office and most of our clients are located in the Adelaide CBD.
What we do
The role of the Auditor-General is to provide independent assurance to Parliament that Government activities are conducted and accounted for properly and are in accordance with the law.
Most of our teams undertake financial audits and controls opinion audits while specialist teams look into information systems issues and special reviews in areas of public interest and the local government sector.
The Auditor-General has an important part in ensuring public sector accountability. The Auditor-General also assists the public sector agencies to improve their performance in delivering better outcomes to the community.
