THE POSITION

In this position, you will perform a variety of beginning level technical work of a training nature primarily within the Survey Unit to become proficient in the types of data needed, equipment and methods used in surveying. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will be responsible for making field decisions regarding the placement and documentation of control and topographic points. You will exhibit proficiency in utilizing various Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers and methodologies to determine mapping and survey-grade point locations. Additionally, you will engage in the electronic downloading and editing of survey data using the Department of Transportation's Computer Aided Drafting and Design System (CADD). Moreover, you will document survey data through data collectors, survey controllers, or field notes, and perform computations involving mathematics, trigonometry, algebra, and geometry.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on adhoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City.
- Schedules vary due to weather and field conditions, and requires working in inclement conditions.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as an Engineering Technician; or
- Three years of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments; or
- One year of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments, and an associate's degree in surveying, drafting, design, civil or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
Condition of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
