In this pivotal role, you will support the Sales Department’s operations, ensuring seamless order fulfilment and sales data management. Reporting to the Sales and Distribution Manager, you will be instrumental in maintaining efficient day-to-day procedures, responding to customer enquiries, and assisting with the coordination of exciting author events and bookshop tours. Key Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Assist in the efficient functioning of the Sales Department by managing routine administrative tasks, monitoring the UQP Sales inbox, and responding to customer and bookseller enquiries via phone and email.
  • Conduct routine data entry, retrieval, and records management processes to facilitate sales data collection and analysis, producing and circulating weekly and monthly sales reports.
  • Assist with managing in-house inventory, including maintaining stock records, performing stock takes for the UQP stockroom and bookshop, and ensuring accurate merchandising.
  • Support the Sales and Distribution Manager in organising author bookshop tours and other events, including booking facilities, scheduling, monitoring RSVPs, and liaising with attendees.

About You

  • Completed Year 12 without work experience or attained Certificates I or II with work related experience or, an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong ability to handle customer enquiries and provide excellent customer service.
  • Exhibit computer literacy skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Possess effective time management and organisational skills, with a keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of metadata best practices and experience in the book industry, either in publishing or as a bookseller, is considered an advantage.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia.
