Employee Services provides the CU community with excellent services from recruitment to retirement. This office
provides technical expertise while administering benefits, professional development, payroll, individual tax management, and strategic HR
programs. The functional areas of Employee Services include Payroll, Technologies, Benefits, Retirement, Financial Education, Learning and
Development, International Tax and Human Resources.
Position Summary: The Senior Payroll Processor
provides service, support, and counseling to the university faculty, staff, students, retirees, and their dependents by providing payroll
programs, policies, and procedures. This position provides ongoing payroll support and services including conducting seminars and
educational sessions for campus constituents. This position also serves as a functional advisor to users of the PeopleSoft HCM system and
its impact on payroll processing. The Senior Payroll Processor is required to analyze and apply federal and state rules and regulations and
professional payroll best-practice guidelines.
The Senior Payroll Processor is responsible for running all payrolls (monthly,
biweekly, weekly off-cycle); monitoring contributions, benefits, deductions, and taxes. In addition, this position runs various audit
queries, identifying and resolving discrepancies as well as assisting with testing and recommendations of updates/enhancements to HCM and
payroll processing. The Senior Payroll Processor works closely with HCM/Payroll Support Professionals and Payroll Coordinators to assess
incoming issues and concerns. Testing scenarios and other methods are used to determine the best solutions which are tracked in the Cherwell
ticketing system.
This position reports to the Payroll Manager and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff
system.

Duties & Responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not
limited to:
- Process monthly, biweekly, offcycle, and year-end payrolls independently and in collaboration with a small team of
payroll processors
- Run various audit queries, identify, and resolve the discrepancies which may include contacting campus
HR/Payroll Liaisons to enter corrections
- Actively collaborate with Benefit Enrollment Processors to assure benefits process
correctly on checks
- Research and resolve issues escalated by Payroll Specialists
- Actively collaborate with the processing
team to research and analyze test system issues and upgrades
- Provides timely feedback to the organization regarding service
failures or customer concerns.
- Document unresolved issues clearly and concisely which are then escalated to the Processing
Supervisor, Payroll Functional Analyst and University Information System
- Reviews and analyzes processes in search of opportunities
to improve accuracy and efficiencies
- Audit, calculate, and process payroll transactions which may include regular pay, overpays,
retro pay, offcycle payments, manual and tax adjustments.
- Understand Was/Should calculation and analyze transactions in HCM to
assess what happened in order to pay the employee correctly
- Understands how transactions affect the W-2 and analyzes transactions
in HCM to assess and fix errors.
- Actively involved in Payroll Year-End Processing which include W-2 reconciliations and year-end
adjustments.
- Maintains data integrity of employee's HCM position or job data by using assigned security access to review, audit,
and correct payroll or benefit discrepancies for items reported by multi-campus users or identified by other Payroll team members.
- Works with the Payroll cross functional team, management and campus departments to assist with compensation, deductions, and
contributions corrections.
- Runs and reviews regular and ad hoc compensating control queries to provide guidance to departments on
items that are inconsistent or don't fall into current procedures and policies.
- Assists in writing step-by-step guidelines for the
Payroll team and campus users as well as communications for publication in the Employee Services Communique. In addition, this position will
participate in campus forums; New Employee Orientation (NEO); or provide informational material to be used in the presentations.
- Builds sustainable relationships with team and campus staff through trust and open and interactive communication.
- Tracks all
escalations via the ticketing system
- Other duties as required.

$65,900-$69,000.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Please ensure your resume includes any

time of application to be considered for this role. - Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education,
or equivalent professional experience (professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year
basis)
- Three (3) years' of experience in a payroll environment performing payroll activities.
Preferred
Qualifications: - Five (5) years of professional experience, as stated above.
- Experience with HCM PeopleSoft or
other ERP systems.
- Experience in Higher Education environments
- Familiarity with PS and SQL Queries
- Professional
Payroll certifications (FPC or CPP)
