Job Summary

Minnesota Housing is hiring! We’re a mission-focused financial institution looking for a Senior Systems Business Analyst who will perform business analysis functions using a set of tasks and techniques to successfully act as a liaison among stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies and operations of an organization and to be able to recommend solutions that enable projects to be successful and goals to be met. This includes participating in requirements gathering sessions to analyze, define and document business processes, software requirements, data management systems and development of specifications for technology initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead business analysis on impactful initiatives, influence strategic decisions and work with cross-functional teams to innovate and achieve excellence.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform the business analysis activities, tasks and techniques used to work as a liaison among stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies, and operations of an organization, and to recommend solutions to enable the organization to achieve its goals.
  • Must analyze and synthesize information provided by a large number of people who interact with the business (customers, staff, IT, executives, etc.). Responsible for eliciting the actual needs of stakeholders (not just desires) and successfully managing, translating and communicating these needs between the various groups.
  • Provide Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring to plan and determine which activities are necessary in order to complete the business analysis effort for the project. This includes: the identification of stakeholders; selection of business analysis techniques; the process used to manage requirements; and how to assess progress of work and activities.
  • Provide Requirements Analysis to progressively prioritize and elaborate requirements to enable the project team to implement a solution that fulfills the needs of the organization and stakeholders. This involves analyzing stakeholder needs to define solutions that meet those needs; functional and non-functional requirements; modeling the business domain using process diagrams, flowcharts, data models, etc.; exploring behavior models using use case, user experience design, storyboards, wire-frames, user profiles and user stories; and verifying and validating final requirements.
  • Provide peer review analysis leadership and mentoring (includes but is not limited to feedback, guidance, oversight and direction).
  • Provide Solution Assessment and Validation to assess proposed solutions to determine feasibility and best fits for gathered requirements – identifying and documenting gaps and shortcomings. This covers: evaluating alternate solutions; quality assurance processes; support through implementation; and post implementation reviews.
  • Identify possible areas of concern around system problems and opportunities for re-engineering and redesigning systems and services. Recommend process improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in progressive experience as a technology systems business analyst.
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology may substitute for 12 months of experience – or – a Master’s degree in the listed fields may substitute for 18 months of experience
  • Understanding and experience with System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and project management methodologies.
  • Eliciting and managing requirements by creating business analysis documentation such as business process modeling, gap analysis artifacts, use cases, user stories and acceptance criteria, context diagrams and functional decompositions.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to comprehend and convey complex information in a clear, accessible manner—whether through verbal, written, or visual means—to facilitate mutual understanding across diverse audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of an Agile team.
  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, the ability to effectively resolve problems.
  • Cultural competency as demonstrated by skills for communication and interaction across cultures and awareness of one’s own world view and that different world views exist.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with vendor products, configurable products, and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product implementations.
  • Experience supporting Salesforce or other CRM applications.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Ability to provide effective mentorship and coaching to team members.
  • Support a newly formed Enterprise Project Management office by analyzing, identifying and supporting continuous process improvement initiatives.

Requires moving office items such as file folders and small office tools.
