Electro-Mechanical Technician

Pay: $34.00 - $37.00 p/h (DOE)
Shift: 2nd Shift (Monday-Friday) Overtime and weekends as needed
Job Overview
This is a great opportunity to join a well-established food manufacturing operation in Hodgkins, IL. In this role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and improving production equipment through both preventive and corrective maintenance. You’ll play a key role in minimizing downtime, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring overall equipment reliability in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance on production and packaging equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues
- Support production teams with equipment uptime, changeovers, and breakdown response
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes to prevent repeat failures
- Maintain motors, drives, VFDs, sensors, valves, and automated systems
- Assist with new equipment installation, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Complete work orders and maintenance documentation within CMMS systems
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with GMP, food safety, and safety standards
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to improve efficiency
Requirements
- Experience in food, beverage, bakery, or regulated manufacturing environments preferred
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical components, and automation
- Experience troubleshooting PLCs and working with automated equipment
- Familiarity with conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pneumatics, and hydraulics
- CMMS experience (SAP, Maximo, UpKeep, etc.) is a plus
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced setting
Qualifications
- Technical qualification in Electromechanical, Mechatronics, or related field
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing
- Maintenance certifications or bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable working at heights and climbing ladders or stairs
- Ability to distinguish colors (wiring) and sounds (equipment diagnostics)
- Capable of working in a production environment around moving machinery
