Location: Binghamton, NY 13904
Job Type: Contract | 26 Weeks | Local or Travel
Shift: Mid Day Shift (5x8 Hours) | 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Job Summary:

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Behavioral Health to provide high-quality care to patients with mental health and behavioral conditions. The RN will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and ongoing monitoring of patient progress in a safe and therapeutic environment.

This role requires strong clinical judgment, crisis intervention skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary care team. The RN will also ensure accurate documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR), adherence to facility protocols, and compliance with behavioral health and patient safety standards.

Key responsibilities include providing emotional support, patient and family education, and contributing to a structured environment that promotes recovery, safety, and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral health assessments
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans
  • Administer medications and monitor treatment effectiveness
  • Respond to behavioral crises and psychiatric emergencies appropriately
  • Document patient care accurately in EMR systems
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and care teams
  • Provide de-escalation, emotional support, and patient education
  • Maintain compliance with infection control and safety protocols

Requirements:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State (required)
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
  • Current BLS/CPR certification (required)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Behavioral Health / Psychiatric nursing experience (preferred)
  • Experience in hospital or psychiatric facility strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of mental health conditions and crisis intervention techniques
  • Excellent communication, de-escalation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-acuity environment
  • Familiarity with EMR documentation systems preferred
  • Strong understanding of patient safety and healthcare compliance standards
