We’re looking for a skilled Intermediate / Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our clients Waikato / Central North Island based team. Work with a team committed to reputable engineering outcomes and a balanced work environment – a good mix of field work, with a fair share of office-based vibes. Our client’s business is growing a more diverse footprint across the Central North Island and with an increasing portfolio of projects, they require a capable and resourceful Intermediate or Senior Geotechnical Engineer that may also prove themselves as a Team Lead. Key Responsibilities and Criteria: * Technical Experience • An industry recognised Engineering Qualification with 7+ years of proven experience in geotechnical engineering with a strong understanding of New Zealand practice. • Chartered or actively working towards Chartership. • Strong technical capability in site investigations; earthworks design and monitoring; site soil assessments; settlement, liquefaction and slope stability analysis; etc. • Experience using geotechnical analysis software such as SlopeW, Slide, Wallap, CLiq, Plaxis, Settle3D, etc. • Comfortable working with other engineering disciplines and providing specialist geotechnical engineering input – whether it residential, land development, commercial, transport, retaining structures, slopes, pavements, subdivisions, water infrastructure, geothermal, etc. • Strong knowledge of relevant NZ standards, industry guidelines and local codes. • Comfortable working in the field and getting on top of things in the office. * Leadership and Project Delivery • Lead structural deliverables across projects, with strong technical oversight. • Build trusted relationships with clients and key stakeholders. • Set and maintain high quality standards - clear calculations, tidy reporting and solid peer review. • Identify issues early and use sound engineering judgement to work through them with clients and project teams. • Contribute to proposals, resourcing decisions and improving how we work. • Proven ability to manage and deliver projects on time and within budget. * Team and Culture • A practical, team-first approach and a sense of humour. • Comfortable leading people, giving direction, and supporting others to grow. • Support and mentor engineers, helping lift capability across the team. • Foster a team environment focused on collaboration and quality outcomes. • Champion health, safety and integrity - for yourself and across the team.
