Duties Description Under the general supervision of an Immigrant Workers Specialist 3, the incumbent Immigrant Workers Specialist 2 in DOCE you would serve as a liaison for the Department of Labor, agricultural employers, potentially vulnerable workers and advocacy groups. The incumbent will: • Responds to concerns raised by community organizations working directly with potential labor trafficking victims.• Coordinates with Department programs investigating Labor Law violations related toimmigrant workers.• Analyzes reports, census data, and other statistical data regarding immigrant population trends, issues, and concerns.• In collaboration with Office of Special Investigations, may work on potential criminalcases with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.• Responds to constituent calls and correspondence and prepares letters and reportsregarding immigration and human trafficking issues.• Oversees community outreach and rural programs and services for a geographic area.• Develops and implements information awareness campaigns targeted at existing and emerging immigrant populations.• Conducts screening of potential labor trafficking victims• Conducts interviews of potential labor trafficking victims as part of the U/T Visa Certification process• Conducts intake of Statement of Interest requests, screens and drafts Statement ofInterest letters for submission to DHS• Reviews and stays informed of any changes to regulations and guidance issued by U.S. DOL and other federal authorities or agencies.• Supervises inspections of farm worker housing to determine compliance with U.S. DOL and other applicable regulations.• Supervises investigations of complaints filed by immigrant workers against employers suspected of violating the State’s labor laws.• Participates in meetings and community events to give and obtain information relating to immigrant workers’ issues and concerns.• Supervises and trains Immigrant Workers Specialists 1.

Minimum Qualifications As this position requires travel, the appointee must have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State and have a motor vehicle or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position. Non-Competitive: bachelor’s degree and three years of experience providing assistance, direction or support to improve, protect, and preserve the rights of workers and/or immigrants, or assisting clients in understanding and participating in public or private programs. The experience must include involvement in public education, communications, or community outreach activities.Preferred Qualifications: Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.
