Maintenance Mechanic – Processing Department (2nd Shift)
Location: South Holland, IL
Shift: 2nd Shift | 6 days | 3pm-12am (overtime available)
Pay: $30–$40/hr
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to support processing and production operations within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and improving processing and packaging equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience with processing equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, conveyors, and industrial production systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain processing and packaging equipment.
- Install, service, and repair motors, heaters, coolers, refrigeration equipment, and related machinery.
- Perform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to component level.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Support steam systems, water treatment systems, pumps, pressure systems, and facility equipment.
- Disassemble and reassemble processing and packaging machinery.
- Repair and adjust grinders, beehive heads, feed screws, dumper cylinders, vacuum pumps, gearboxes, smokehouse motors, condensers, and exhaust systems.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other PIT equipment safely.
- Perform building maintenance, rack repairs, and general facility upkeep.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and prepare equipment condition reports.
- Ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety and sanitation standards.
- Assist with training and support of maintenance team members as needed.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
- Experience within food manufacturing, processing, or packaging environments preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting skills on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and understand PLC ladder logic.
- Experience working with conveyors, pumps, motors, refrigeration systems, and processing equipment.
- Knowledge of industrial maintenance tools, systems, and safety procedures.
- Ability to operate PIT equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

- Standing for extended periods
