Lead AI Platform Engineer - Medicare Technology

Job Description

We are hiring a Platform Engineer to build and operate the infrastructure, orchestration, integrations, and guardrails that enable conversational, agentic, and automation AI systems to run securely, reliably, and at scale in a healthcare environment.

This is a foundational role within a small, high-impact AI pod. The individual will not only build the platform capabilities needed to productionize AI solutions but will also serve as a technical leader and mentor, helping upskill existing developers and shaping the future growth of the team. The team will likely leverage platforms such as Kore.ai, but this role requires someone who can design and build AI systems both within and outside of such platforms, ensuring flexibility, scalability, and avoidance of vendor lock-in.

Over time, this role is expected to evolve into a Pod Lead, as the organization scales from one pod into multiple specialized pods.

Skills and Requirements

• Strong experience in backend or platform engineering

• Proven experience building production-grade distributed systems

• Experience designing and implementing:

o APIs and microservices

o asynchronous or event-driven systems

o workflow orchestration systems

• Experience integrating:

o enterprise systems

o external APIs and services

• Strong programming skills (Python, Java, or similar)

• Cloud platform experience - Azure

• Observability and monitoring tools experience

• AI Systems Exposure

• Experience supporting or working with AI/ML systems in production

• Familiarity with:

o LLM-based applications

o multi-step AI workflows or agent systems

o RAG or data-driven AI pipelines

• Healthcare and Compliance experience

• Strong understanding of:

o HIPAA and data privacy requirements

o building compliant, auditable systems
