JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the role is to maintain an accurate and compliant inventory of samples and to oversee all aspects of sample handling. This includes ensuring that samples are received, registered, labelled, stored, tracked, dispatched, returned, and/or disposed of in accordance with organisational and regulatory requirements. The role relies on the effective use of specialised IT systems and databases, which are essential for maintaining data integrity and traceability. Close interaction and communication with internal stakeholders and customers is a key component of the position
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine sample inventory operations, including sample receipt, registration, (re)labelling, tracking, dispatch, and disposal using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Provide data manifests and (re) label samples as applicable
Track all work-in-progress using specialised informatics systems as well as databases, so that there is a common understanding of status at all times
Perform all work in accordance with global standards, SOPs, Good Clinical Practice and legal requirements
Supports a team and works collaboratively with project managers to ensure the efficient relay of information and communication of data
Maintains a well-developed understanding of the sample inventory and uses a broader functional knowledge of the procedures to develop new processes or improve existing procedures within the department, where needed
Assesses and reports data or issues, with little or no guidance, in a clear and concise manner
Provides technical instruction to the team and allocates administrative work where possible
Ensures compliance with global HBS standards and legal requirements

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Typically works in a customer or office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level. May involve site visits to customer laboratories and warehouses. The role requires the associate to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods.
