TITLE: Safety Technician Assistant

LOCATION: BOCES wide

REPORTS: Coordinator of Health and Safety

TERMS: Full-time, 12 months

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma
Possession of an appropriate level New York State driver’s license at the time of
appointment which must be maintained during employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES /
DUTIES:

Assists other H&S professionals conduct inspections, including building inspections to
assess possible risks of exposure to potential hazards in school, and fire extinguisher
inspections. Assists other H&S professionals prepare for, set up and provide workshops,
drills and other similar activates in order to keep school districts current with changes in
laws and regulations concerning health and safety issues and multi-hazard approach to
emergencies and Homeland Security issues. Assists in researching and summarizing
regulations and laws in the area of health and safety; in drafting proposed changes for
emergency planning procedures; and with documenting compliance with laws and
regulations. Assists with preparation of health and safety reports.

SALARY/BENEFITS: $16/hour, Includes generous health, dental, and state retirement benefits as well as generous
paid leave time based on the BOCES Employee Support Personnel Association (BESPA) contract.
