This role serves as the technical expert for CNC machining operations, focusing on developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs and manufacturing processes for complex aerospace components. You will combine hands-on shop floor support with engineering office work to improve manufacturability, drive process improvements, and support new product development in a highly collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
Develop, modify, and validate CNC programs, including defining setup, tooling, speeds, and feeds for efficient and reliable machining.
Create CNC programs for new parts and optimize existing programs to improve cycle time, quality, and overall process efficiency.
Design and document manufacturing processes, including setup sheets, tool sheets, and process sketches, to ensure clear and consistent execution on the shop floor.
Support day-to-day shop floor operations by troubleshooting machining issues and providing technical guidance to production teams.
Design tooling, fixtures, and gages using CAD software to support precision machining and repeatable manufacturing processes.
Evaluate part manufacturability and support quoting activities by reviewing drawings, tolerances, and process requirements.
Drive continuous process improvements and lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) initiatives to resolve quality and productivity issues.
Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams to support production ramp-up, quality initiatives, and engineering changes.
Participate in new product development efforts by contributing manufacturing expertise and ensuring robust CNC processes are in place.
Analyze machining and process data to identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes that enhance throughput and reduce waste.
