Industrial Electrician – Union Position (Heavy Industrial / Steel Mill)

Job Summary

Veterans Alliance is seeking Industrial Electricians for a union-represented position within a major steel production facility. This role is essential to maintaining plant operations, ensuring electrical systems, motors, drives, and PLC-controlled equipment remain fully functional in a heavy industrial environment.

Candidates with industrial electrical experience — including U.S. Military electrical or avionics specialties — are highly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, install, maintain, and repair a wide range of electrical and electronic systems
  • Work with schematics, AC/DC systems, PLCs, motors, drives, and power distribution equipment
  • Support operational teams as needed to maintain continuous production
  • Safely operate or work around cranes, mobile equipment, and forklifts
  • Perform electrical maintenance in all plant areas — which may be hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, or noisy
  • Follow all safety protocols, PPE standards, and company/union guidelines

Requirements

  • Must pass required Ramsay Electrical Assessment
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 1 year industrial, manufacturing, electrical maintenance, or military electrical/avionics experience
  • Relevant experience may include: Industrial electronics, AC/DC theory & power systems, Schematics & print reading, PLCs & digital/analog systems, Aircraft avionics/electrical maintenance, Commercial or military electrical systems
  • Ability to work rotating 8-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Willingness to work mandatory overtime
  • Must pass a drug screen (urine + hair), background check, and physical
  • Consistent attendance, self-motivation, and adherence to safety procedures
