Job Title: Senior Electrical EngineerJob Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Architectural and Engineering Design firm. The ideal candidate will lead the design and development of electrical systems for a variety of commercial and K-12 educational projects, ensuring they meet both client requirements and current industry standards. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, managing project timelines, and mentoring junior engineers.
Responsibilities
Lead the design of electrical power, lighting, life safety, and security systems for commercial and K-12 educational buildings.
Develop detailed electrical drawings, schematics, one-line diagrams, and specifications.
Ensure designs comply with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
Manage electrical engineering projects from concept through completion.
Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders.
Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
Provide technical guidance and expertise in the selection of electrical power and lighting systems, life safety systems, and security systems and components.
Conduct detailed site inspections and assessments to ensure design feasibility and compliance.
Perform load calculations, lighting calculations, short-circuit analysis, arc flash hazard, and other engineering calculations as needed.
Specify lighting controls and luminaire selections.
Ensure lighting designs meet current standards and client needs.
Specify and size standby power systems.
Specify auxiliary systems, including fire alarm systems and access control.
Integrate with CCTV and other low voltage systems design consultants.
Review, approve, sign, and seal electrical engineering documents and deliverables.
Conduct quality control checks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of designs.
Address and resolve any technical issues that arise during construction.
Mentor and train junior engineers and support staff.
Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
Lead design review meetings and provide constructive feedback.
Interface with clients to understand project requirements and provide technical solutions.
Prepare and present project proposals, reports, and technical presentations.
Ensure client satisfaction through effective communication and project management.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably with prior K-12 design experience.
Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex projects.
Demonstrated creative thinking, design ability, and technical proficiency.
PE in the State of Michigan, or ability to obtain licensure.
Proficiency in electrical design software and lighting design calculation software.
Proficiency in Revit.
Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Revit and design software.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
Proficiency in electrical engineering and design.

This position offers remote work flexibility with the option to work in one of our four locations across the state. We provide a flexible schedule, allowing you to balance work and personal commitments. Additionally, there is an opportunity to create an Electrical team to your liking.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Portage, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $155000.00/yr.
I will get them from Kingscott Associates upon request
