Position Description: Culver-Stockton College invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. This is a full-time, tenure-track position beginning in August 2026. The ability to teach a broad range of courses in criminal justice and legal studies (e.g., criminal law, constitutional law, trial advocacy, dispute resolution) is required. This is a traditional face-to-face position in a dynamic, experientially based program with some online teaching as needed. Willingness to serve as Title IX coordinator is desired.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for teaching undergraduate classes in the major as needed.
• Participate in departmental, college-wide, and community service activities.
• Advise and mentor students on academic and career development.
• Assist with recruitment efforts for students.
• Engage in scholarly activities or professional practice.
• Contribute to the ongoing growth of the Department of Criminal Justice through curriculum development, assessment activities, and accreditation efforts.
• Must have the ability to work effectively with students and colleagues and have a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, J.D., or closely related field by date of appointment required.
• ABD candidates will be considered; candidates with a master’s degree will be considered for a renewable, non-tenure-track lecturer position.
• Professional experience in the field of law is preferred.
• Experience in teaching criminal justice and/or related courses at the undergraduate level.
• Strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education and experiential learning, teaching and student success.
• A strong commitment to academic advising is expected.
• Ability to work effectively with students and colleagues from a variety of backgrounds.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
