Position Description: Culver-Stockton College invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Criminal
Justice. This is a full-time, tenure-track position beginning in August 2026. The ability to teach a broad range of courses in criminal
justice and legal studies (e.g., criminal law, constitutional law, trial advocacy, dispute resolution) is required. This is a traditional
face-to-face position in a dynamic, experientially based program with some online teaching as needed. Willingness to serve as Title IX
coordinator is desired.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for teaching undergraduate classes in the major
as needed.
- Participate in departmental, college-wide, and community service activities.
- Advise and mentor students on
academic and career development.
- Assist with recruitment efforts for students.
- Engage in scholarly activities or
professional practice.
- Contribute to the ongoing growth of the Department of Criminal Justice through curriculum development,
assessment activities, and accreditation efforts.
- Must have the ability to work effectively with students and colleagues and have a
strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Criminal
Justice, J.D., or closely related field by date of appointment required.
- ABD candidates will be considered; candidates with a
master’s degree will be considered for a renewable, non-tenure-track lecturer position.
- Professional experience in the field
of law is preferred.
- Experience in teaching criminal justice and/or related courses at the undergraduate level.
- Strong
commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education and experiential learning, teaching and student success.
- A strong commitment to
academic advising is expected.
- Ability to work effectively with students and colleagues from a variety of backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
