Direct Support Professional Driver

DSP Driver needed in Brooklyn
Part time position!

Hours: 12pm–4pm Monday through Friday

Job Summary:
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) Driver is responsible for safely transporting individuals to and from programs, appointments, and community activities while also providing compassionate, hands-on support to help them achieve independence and quality of life. This role combines driving duties with direct care responsibilities, ensuring both the safety and well-being of individuals during transport and throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a company vehicle to transport individuals to and from designated locations.
• Assist individuals in entering and exiting the vehicle, including use of wheelchairs or mobility devices when needed.
• Monitor and support individuals during transport, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.
• Provide direct support to individuals with daily living activities, including meal prep, hygiene, communication, and community engagement.
• Follow individualized care plans and behavior support strategies.
• Maintain accurate transportation logs, incident reports, and other documentation as required.
• Conduct regular vehicle safety checks and report any maintenance issues.
• Adhere to all traffic laws, agency policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold the dignity and rights of individuals served.
• Participate in required trainings and staff meetings.

Requirements

• Current, valid driver's license in the state of New York preferred. Valid licenses from other states will be accepted.
• High school diploma and experience working with individuals with ID/DD
• Must be cleared through OPWDD
