Summary
The Boler College of Business invites applications for a Professor of Practice position in BusinessAnalytics beginning in August 2026. The Professor of Practice will teach foundational and more advanced data analytics classes to students from a variety of majors. The Professor of Practice is expected to teach 4 courses/sections per semester (8 total for the academic year) and participate in academic advising and other service activities. This position is a full time, 9-month position and will report to the Chair of the Department of Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and academic credentials. The anticipated hire start date is August 2026.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT, MARKETING, AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
The Department of Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management (MMS) is a dynamic and collaborative department that focuses on developing highly capable graduates who possess market-relevant expertise and a competitive edge.

MMS is home to programs that bridge critical areas of business practice. In addition to our core majors in Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management, we emphasize high-impact interdisciplinary programs, including a popular double major in Marketing and Supply Chain Management. The department also houses the Business Analytics minor, as well as the interdisciplinary minors in Entrepreneurship and Leadership.
We offer a supportive environment that values experiential learning, innovative teaching, and collaborative program building. Our focus is on community engagement with business partners, providing students with practical, real-world experience. Consistent with this commitment to applied learning, our students are required to complete an internship component, ensuring their professional readiness.
You will be joining a dedicated, diverse faculty committed to student success and the continued evolution of our programs. Leveraging our deep roots in Jesuit education, MMS is connected to a vast global Jesuit Business Education network, comprising nearly 200 Jesuit universities worldwide. This network allows us to emphasize a unique approach that combines our local footprint with global impact. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach a full-time course load (typically 4 courses per semester) at the undergraduate and graduate levels, covering foundational and advanced business analytics (e.g., Data Visualization, Predictive Analytics, Database Management, Data Mining, Statistical Modeling, and Business Intelligence) and potentially a secondary field based on expertise and experience.
  • Continuously update course content and labs to reflect the latest advancements in data analytics technology and methodologies (e.g., Generative AI applications in business).
  • Structure courses to be heavily project-based and hands-on, ensuring students are proficient in using industry-standard software and programming languages.
  • Emphasize the ability to translate technical analytical results into clear, actionable business recommendations for non-technical stakeholders (data storytelling).
  • Incorporate instruction on data privacy, security, governance, and ethical use of data and AI in business contexts.
  • Advise students on course selection, academic plans, and career paths, leveraging professional experience to guide those interested in graduate school and careers in the data field.
  • Participate in departmental, college, or university service duties as appropriate.

Required Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree (e.g., MS in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, MBA with an analytics specialization, or related field) is required.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of full-time, practical experience in a senior data science, business intelligence, or quantitative analysis role is required. This experience must be sufficient to demonstrate subject matter expertise.
  • Expert-level proficiency in at least one statistical/programming language (e.g., Python or R) and expertise in SQL and relational databases.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with current business intelligence and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for lecturing, facilitating case-based discussions, and providing constructive feedback on student work.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience at the university level (adjunct or corporate training) is highly beneficial, especially experience with business analytics-related courses.
  • Cross-disciplinary teaching expertise in a secondary business analytics-related, decision sciences field (e.g., operations management, supply chain management).
  • A terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D.) is valued but not required, as professional credentials are the priority.
  • Experience leading and managing a data analytics team or department.
  • Certification and extensive experience with major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks and deployment (MLOps).
  • Experience in healthcare analytics, health informatics, or a related field.

Normal Work Location, Hours and Conditions
This position teaches in-person from our campus in University Heights, OH. University core business hours are generally 8:30 am – 5 pm. However, this position may require work to be performed outside of normal business hours based on department operations.
