The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Systems Management & Operations, has a full-time vacancy for a Transportation Management Communication Specialist I (TMCSI) working 3rd shift hours.

SUMMARY : To receive, process, and disseminate information using the Transportation Management Center’s Transportation Management System (TMC’s TMS).

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS : Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Two years in a field or occupation including dispatching, communications, emergency response, information technology or related field.

License/Certification : None

Other Requirements:

1. Selected candidate will undergo a fingerprint-based criminal background check.

2. Must be willing to work an extended and/or flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays, and may be required to report to work with little notice during transportation events and/or emergencies as needed.

3. Must be available for call-back duty with little notice during transportation events and/or emergencies as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES :


Scans display wall visually to obtain traffic management information.

Communicates with other TMC operators and supervisors to coordinate traffic management activities.

Monitors real-time traffic flow data from multiple sources.

Operates camera and scans multiple monitors to monitor, verify, and diagnose traffic events.

Monitors and evaluates environmental conditions and RWIS (Roadway Weather Information Systems).

Uses multi-channel telephone and radio headset to communicate with other NHDOT employees, other TMC operators, TMC supervisors, interagency traffic management personnel, and public about traffic management and traffic events.

Performs and oversees work in full conformance with all risk management, safety, and environmental standards, regulations, and administrative orders.
