Before and After School Program Staff

Job Description

Program staff wanted for a before and after school-aged child care program at Bear Valley Elementary School with the Bear Valley Community Association's School Aged-Child care program (SACC). This is a part-time position with hours from 7:00 - 9:00 AM and 2:00 - 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday. We are willing to be flexible on scheduling for the right candidate Candidates wokring Monday through Friday preferred. There are NO additional hours except for on in-service days and parent-teacher conference half days and mandatory staff meetings/trainings. This position does have potential to go full-time during the summer with our Summer Camp program.

We are searching for someone who is dependable, dedicated and would like to be a part of our program long-term. Candidate should be kind, patient and flexible with children, and have a genuine interest of working with children. This is a fantastic opportunity for college students who attend class during the afternoon, those who desire to work in the field of early/elementary education, or for those who just love working with children!

The ideal candidate must meet the following:

  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be dependable.
  • Be able to successfully pass a background check prior to employment starting if offered the position.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • Be available for staff training and meetings.
  • CPR/First Aid training and MOA food handlers card is desired but not necessary (we would provide for the right candidate).
  • Previous experience working with children is preferred but not required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • SACC program staff are responsible for providing and ensuring a welcoming, safe and fun environment during the school year for school-aged children (ages 5-12). Program staff will maintain a 1:12 ratio (1 staff per 12 children) at all times.
  • Actively participate and engage in fun, appropriate, and friendly manner, with school-aged children, in multiple areas of the program which include the gym, art room, outside and multipurpose room.
  • Monitor the children at all times and keep them safe.
  • Be familiar of the programs policies and procedures and licensing codes/regulations, parent and staff handbook.
  • Participate in multiple indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Work in a loud, upbeat, fast-paced environment.
  • Plan fun and engaging activities for multiple age ranges, such as art activities, science experiments, interest centers and cooking activities.
  • Be willing and able to stand for an extended period of time as well as kneel, bend, or life at least 30+ pounds.
  • Greet parents of the children in the program on a daily basis.
  • Be friendly and able to work well amongst other staff.
  • Prepare and serve breakfast and snack for the children, as well as complete set-up and clean-up during meal times.
  • Work well independently and in a group setting.
  • Communicate with staff management, and other program staff members in a professional and friendly manner.

Compensation:

We start out at $16.50 per hour with the opportunity for raises.
