Architectural Sales Representative

Position Available: Immediately

Location: New-York City

Reporting to the VP of Sales, the Architectural Sales Representative is responsible for driving specifications and sales of Polycor’s natural stone materials through proactive engagement with architects and landscape architects, contractors, and developers. This role focuses on building brand awareness, influencing project specifications, and ensuring Polycor stones are selected and maintained throughout the design and construction cycle.

The rep acts as a trusted consultant — combining product expertise, design insight, skills to deliver results that align with Polycor’s growth strategy and premium brand position.

Key Responsibilities:

Architectural Specification & Design Development

  • Promote Polycor’s natural stone materials to architects and landscape architects and secure project specifications through design and bid phases.
  • Conduct CEU presentations, lunch & learns, and office visits to educate and inspire design teams.
  • Provide samples, technical data, and design support to influence product selection.
  • Track specifications using CRM and project intelligence tools and defend them during value engineering or substitution challenges.
  • Convert competitor specifications at the bid stage in collaboration with fabricators, dealers, and contractors.

Relationship & Territory Development

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key accounts, including architects, landscape architects, developers, and general contractors.
  • Expand influence within architectural firms and specification networks.
  • Participate in industry events, trade shows, and professional associations (AIA, ASLA, etc.).
  • Develop strategic partnerships with fabricators and installers to increase visibility and support.
  • Identify emerging markets and growth opportunities within the assigned territory.

Product Knowledge & Technical Expertise

  • Maintain a deep understanding of Polycor’s product portfolio, including quarry origins, finishes, and performance characteristics.
  • Understand competitive materials (cast stone, concrete, etc.) and position Polycor’s natural stone advantages effectively.
  • Provide technical guidance on fabrication, installation, and maintenance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Estimating, Project Management, and Operations teams to resolve project-specific challenges.

Brand Representation & Marketing Alignment

  • Serve as the face of Polycor within the design and construction community.
  • Support marketing initiatives, local events, and case study development.
  • Ensure brand consistency across presentations, proposals, and events.
  • Share field insights and design trends with marketing and product teams.

Sales Performance & Reporting

  • Achieve sales and specification targets.
  • Track project pipelines and competitive intelligence.
  • Manage travel, expenses, and customer engagement responsibly.
  • Support national account coordination and cross-functional sales initiatives.

Profile

The ideal candidate possesses excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with a consultative sales approach and a strong understanding of architectural and construction processes. Self-motivated, organized, and proactive, this person can manage multiple projects, follow up with precision, and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. A passion for design, architecture, and sustainable materials is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Construction, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in architectural sales, specification management, or related roles.
  • Knowledge of architectural and construction processes, materials, and specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written), French is an asset.
  • Strong proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to travel within assigned territory. A valid driver’s license is required.
