Job Description

Summary

The Office of Occupational Health and Well-Being Services (OHWB) supports the mission by applying professional knowledge in Occupational Health, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene and Safety operating in accordance with all governing body regulations. OHWB personnel provide clinical services, including emergency response, evaluations, immunizations, vision and well-being services. Personnel will also provide technical, managerial, and administrative services to the workforce.

Duties

Perform, advise, and manage professional nursing and occupational health care services involving emergency care, stabilization of injuries/illnesses, health counseling, travel health services and protections from occupational and environmental hazards.

Qualifications

FULL PERFORMANCE
Entry is with an Associate's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience. A current, valid, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse by any state or territory is also required.

Relevant experience must involve hands-on patient care in clinical nursing (for example, medical, surgical, ER, health promotion, occupational health, or ambulatory care). At least some of the relevant experience must have taken place in the last three years.

The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Degree must be in Nursing.

How you will be evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

  • Independently provide triaged medical care and services through workplace and on the job injuries, return to work evaluations and emergency care and response.
  • Assist with medical readiness evaluations. Review medical history and assessments, vital signs, vision screening, electrocardiograms, labs and audiograms.
  • Travel Medicine consultations for overseas travel to various locations to include medical history review, assessments, immunizations, education and follow-up.
  • Program management of various strategic initiatives. Fitness for duty, monitoring and managing OSHA mandated surveillance programs.
  • Operate specialized medical equipment or instruments through competencies and/or certification.
  • Promote and support employee wellness and safety through training, education and health initiatives.

Required Documents

DCIPS Trial Period: If selected for this position, you will be required to serve a two-year DCIPS trial period, unless you are a veterans' preference-eligible employee, in which case you are required to serve a one-year trial period. This trial period runs concurrently with your commitment to the position, if applicable.
