Job Description

Job Title: Cost Accountant
Location: On-site | Akron, OH
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Salary: $100,000 – $110,000, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities (Cost Accountant):

  • Review manufacturing and operational costs to determine product pricing and evaluate profitability
  • Create, manage, and enhance cost accounting systems and internal procedures for efficiency
  • Generate cost reports, margin analyses, and variance reports to assist management in decision-making
  • Track inventory costs, perform regular audits, and ensure reconciliations are completed on schedule
  • Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with company policies regarding cost accounting
  • Partner with operations, procurement, and production teams to identify key cost drivers
  • Assess standard costs and recommend updates based on operational and market shifts
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including cost-related journal entries
  • Identify cost-saving initiatives and recommend process improvements across manufacturing processes

Qualifications (Cost Accountant):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within manufacturing or industrial settings
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, financial analysis, and inventory valuation
  • Proficient in accounting software such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite, as well as advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP systems and cost modeling tools
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and other efficiency-improvement methodologies
  • Able to clearly communicate complex financial data to both financial and non-financial team members
