MetWinds Friends Group Volunteer

Job Description

We are currently seeking volunteers for the MetWinds Friends Group. Friends Group members are the first people our audience members come in contact with. They set the tone for the entire concert experience assisting with Front-of-House tasks in exchange for free admission to ticketed, indoor concerts at the Scottish Rite Museum, 33 Marrett Rd, Lexington.

Tasks include but are not limited to: ticket and subscription sales, will-call and comps distribution, ticket collection and check-in, program and audience survey distribution/collection, audience assistance (senior groups), audience/ticket count, door monitoring, etc.

Qualifications:


Members must be responsible, prompt, courteous, and calm under pressure. They must also show proficiency with the iPad and Square app., be responsible while handling payments, and demonstrate the ability to execute detailed work in a fast-paced environment.

Friends Group members need to be available at least one hour before the concert starts (3:00 pm), during intermission, and a half hour after the concert ends (approx.. 4:30 pm). Work overlaps the pre-concert lecture but members should be able to view all but the beginning of the concert.

The Metropolitan Wind Symphony was founded by Jerry Gardner in 1971, and was awarded the prestigious 2015 Sudler Silver Scroll Award for Community Concert Bands by the John Philip Sousa Foundation. Currently celebrating its 55th season, MetWinds comprises over 60 talented woodwind, brass, and percussion instrumentalists who audition for membership and seating. The organization makes a significant contribution to the cultural life of the Greater Boston community by providing its audiences with high quality concerts and its members with opportunities for musical growth.
