What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure data pipelines (ETL/ELT) that integrate large and complex datasets to enable AI solutions, advanced analytics, and data-driven decision making.
  • Develop and manage feature stores to support AI and machine learning models, deploy trained models as production-ready APIs, and implement MLOps practices to automate model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Ensure AI and data solutions comply with data governance frameworks, privacy legislation, and cyber security standards, maintaining strong documentation, controls, and processes to protect data integrity, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Build and maintain enterprise databases, analytical data stores, and AI-ready data marts, leveraging automation, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD pipelines to improve scalability, resilience, and adaptability.
  • Stay current with emerging AI, data engineering, and cloud technologies, contribute to proof-of-concepts and innovation trials, and continuously improve WaterNSW’s data and AI capabilities to deliver better outcomes for customers and communities.

What We Are Looking For

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated professional experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Azure Data certifications (e.g. Azure Data Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent).
  • Proven understanding of Azure Data Factory (ADF) for orchestrating data ingestion, transformation, and data warehouse / lakehouse architectures.
  • Demonstrated experience in data management and data engineering, supporting enterprise reporting, analytics, and AI use cases.
  • Strong expertise in data modelling and ETL/ELT strategies, enabling reliable and performant analytics and AI workloads.
  • Ability to design and build end-to-end data platforms that support integration, reporting, business intelligence, and data science use cases.
