Project Manager III - Electric Energy Infrastructure Projects and Programs

Colorado Springs Utilities is excited to hire a Project Manager III, to join our System Planning and Projects Division. In this position, you will be responsible for collaborating with other project managers, project sponsors, and departments to deliver electric infrastructure projects meeting established objectives, milestones, performance metrics, and deliverables.

Colorado Springs Utilities' Electric Integrated Resource Plans (IRPs) have identified numerous projects for the next 30 years to ensure our organization can continue to provide electric service to the Colorado Springs community reliably. Your role will be pivotal to our success, as you will be primarily responsible for directing, facilitating, and/or delivering these projects, including oversight and coordination of internal and external construction, spanning over the next 30 years. You will help reduce Colorado Springs Utilities' carbon footprint and set a new trajectory for electric services!

Your job responsibilities include...

  • Leading project teams by assembling appropriate personnel, assigning roles and responsibilities, and building team cohesion

  • Directing project meetings and preparing formal and informal project communications

  • Identifying, assessing, and recommending solutions for issues to management to proactively facilitate project progression and resolution

  • Developing and updating project charters, project plans, cost estimates, schedules, contract documents, and project closeout documentation

  • Initiating procurement of materials, resources, equipment, and services (i.e., consultant and construction contracts, permitting, inspections)

  • Tracking, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting project quality, costs, schedule, and scope status. The ability to manage these aspects of project management during outages and high-stress situations to restore gas and electric utilities to the ratepayers expeditiously

  • Driving timely completion of project activities, as well as efficient and cost-effective use of time, materials, and resources

  • Collaborates with other project managers, project sponsors, and operating departments to identify project objectives, milestones, resource requirements, performance metrics, and deliverables

  • Fosters and maintains positive customer relationships

  • Interfaces with internal and external engineers, consultants, materials suppliers, construction contractors, internal construction crews, regulatory agencies, and other project specialists

Who you are... You are likely someone with at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in high-level project management, preferably in planning and constructing electric infrastructure. We are seeking the following education, experience, and skills:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred

  • As a Project Manager III, qualified candidates will offer 5+ years of progressively responsible professional-level project management experience. Additionally, possessing a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Knowledge of electric infrastructure (power generation, substations, transmission and distribution lines, Battery Energy Storage Systems-BESS, and Renewable Energy Technology) is also helpful.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly beneficial

  • Knowledge of and experience in constructing electric infrastructure (power generation, substations, transmission and distribution lines, Battery Energy Storage Systems-BESS, and Renewable Energy Technology) is also helpful

  • Complex Electric vertical and linear project experience is required

  • Knowledge and experience in environmental permitting requirements and procedures for the utility market is highly desired

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
