Overview
Provides services for adult guardianship petitions, hearings, and reports.
Position Responsibilities
Review all petitions for guardianships and supporting documents, ensuring compliance with statutes and local rules court rules.
Send notices to appropriate parties for documents that are missing and needed before guardianship hearings can be set.
Schedule hearings for guardianship petitions. Attend all guardianship hearings, in person and remote. Provide individuals involved in the hearings with appropriate information, forms, and orders.
Prepare orders as needed before and after guardianship hearings.
Update the Indiana guardianship registry using INCITE as orders are entered, and coordinate with the Clerk to issue letters of guardianship after hearings.
Check the guardianship registry daily using INCITE to update current filings, current addresses of parties, reports from guardians, and other information.
Communicate with attorneys via computer system about scheduled hearings and the correct procedures for filing and completing guardianships.
Receive and answer requests for information via telephone, email, mail, and in person.
Function as Court Reporter in uncontested guardianship hearings.
Check the diary system daily for bi-annual periodic guardianship filings and other documents. Request bi-annual periodic reports from attorneys and guardians.
Assist with other duties as assigned, including answering Probate Court office phone.
Qualifications
High School diploma required. Experience in coordinating services required. Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a timely and appropriate manner required. Ability to communicate and interact with diverse groups of individuals a must. Strong computer skills required, particularly experience with Microsoft Office. Experience in social services preferred (mental health or adoption services experience a plus).
Marion County residency is required within six months of hire date.
Salary is based on applicable experience. Enhancements for an Associate's or Bachelors' degree available, as are enhancements for bi-lingual skills.
