About the Role

The Accounting Specialist is a key member of the accounting team working with the Accounting Supervisor and other members of the accounting and finance team. The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing customer invoices, assisting with the corporate credit card program, and supporting both the Accounting Supervisor and Controller in fulfilling the responsibilities of the accounting department.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare customer invoices and verify data accuracy, ensuring compliance with customer agreements and company policies
  • Collaborate with multiple Midwest locations to gather the information needed for accurate and timely invoicing.
  • Review labor assignments tied to job costing to support precise invoice preparation.
  • Assist with the corporate credit card program, including cardholder support, data entry into the accounting system, and reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Assist with daily cash management, including reconciliation of cash activity.
  • Manage the full-cycle accounts payable process using automated AP workflow and invoice imaging systems.
  • Communicate with customers to collect past-due balances and resolve account issues. (business-to-business and business-to-consumer collections).
  • Prepare month-end closing entries and account reconciliations accurately and on schedule.
  • Identify and implement process improvements within assigned responsibilities to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional accounting and administrative tasks and projects as assigned.

Experience

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred (Associate’s or Bachelor’s).
  • 2-3 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, or general accounting; equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) required.
