Job Description
Our Opportunity:
Chewy is seeking a high-impact Business Intelligence Engineer (C05) to join the Delivery Experience (DEX) team. This role sits at the center of Customer Experience (CX), Operations, Quality, and Transportation—acting as the connective tissue that translates complex, fragmented supply chain signals into clear, action-oriented insights. This is not a traditional reporting role. The expectation is not only to surface metrics, but to explain what is happening, why it is happening, and what operators should do next. The BIE will build and own a scalable data stack that powers automated reporting and automated insight delivery for action-oriented forums (WBRs, MBRs, and ad-hoc executive deep dives). A core component of this role is leveraging AI-enabled tooling to reduce noise, accelerate root cause analysis, and make complex data more interpretable for operators. This includes AI-assisted summarization, narrative generation, and guided deep dives that allow teams to move faster from signal to action.
What You’ll Do
- Own the end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of high-visibility reporting and data products that support DEX operating mechanisms and leadership forums.
- Serve as the primary analytics conduit across CX, Supply Chain, Transportation, and Quality, ensuring a single, coherent view of delivery performance and customer impact.
- Build scalable, maintainable data pipelines and reporting layers that prioritize reliability, clarity, and actionability.
- Move beyond static dashboards by delivering narratives to the data—clearly articulating drivers, tradeoffs, risks, and recommended actions.
- Leverage AI-assisted tools to automate insight delivery, including summarization of performance trends, anomaly detection, and guided deep dives that reduce manual analysis time.
- Continuously improve existing reporting by automating recurring workflows, simplifying self-service access, and eliminating low-value manual processes.
- Partner closely with Data Engineering and Technology teams to extract, transform, and model data across a wide range of internal systems using SQL and modern analytics platforms.
- Uphold best practices in analytics engineering, including data integrity, validation, documentation, and metric consistency.
What You’ll Need
- The ideal candidate would have excellent analytical abilities, strong technical skills, superior written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
- Top notch communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to convey key insights from complex analysis in summarized business terms and an ability to effectively communicate with technical teams
- This person would be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big (while paying careful attention to detail) and enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Relevant professional experience in planning, forecasting and/or Supply Chain
- Experience of dealing with results, metrics and data management and desire to create and build new processes
- Tableau expertise
- SQL expertise
- Experience with dbt Cloud
- Advanced Excel proficiency for analysis, validation, and ad-hoc modeling.
- Knowledge of data warehousing
- Proven ability at looking at solutions in unconventional ways
- Sees opportunities to innovate and can lead the way
- Ability to work with shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Travel may be required for this role
The base salary range for this role is $110,500 - $176,000.
- The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.
