Framex Steel NZ is a leading structural steel fabrication firm based in Auckland, specializing in high-quality projects across New Zealand. We are currently expanding our team and seeking experienced welders to join our operations in Mangere workshop, South Auckland. Job Summary We are looking for skilled and experienced welders to contribute to a variety of projects in the Auckland region and beyond. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working on New Zealand-based projects, with strong expertise in welding techniques, safety protocols, and quality standards. This role involves hands-on welding work in a dynamic environment, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and to the highest specifications. Key Responsibilities • Perform welding tasks using various methods (e.g., MIG, TIG, ARC) on materials such as steel, aluminum, and alloys. • Read and interpret shop drawings, and specifications to execute precise welds. • Inspect and test welds for quality, durability, and compliance with New Zealand standards (e.g., AS/NZS 1554). • Collaborate with team members, including fabricators, engineers, and project managers, to meet project deadlines. • Maintain and operate welding equipment, ensuring it is in safe working condition. • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate PPE and following site-specific protocols. • Troubleshoot and resolve welding-related issues on-site. • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, such as suggesting process enhancements. Requirements and Qualifications • Minimum 5-10 years of professional welding experience, with a focus on projects completed in New Zealand. • Relevant certification (e.g., NZQA Level 4 in Welding or equivalent international qualification recognized in NZ). • Proven experience in structural, fabrication, or steelwork welding, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or infrastructure sectors. • Familiarity with New Zealand building codes, welding standards, and WorkSafe NZ guidelines. • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team. • Physical fitness to handle demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and working in various conditions. • Valid New Zealand work visa or residency (if applicable). • Driver’s license and reliable transportation, as the role is based in Mangere with potential travel to other Auckland sites. • Preferred: Experience with Mig welding or additional tickets (e.g., forklift, confined spaces).
