The Sr Physical Security Associate supports the daily operation, coordination, and continuous improvement of physical security systems and programs across RWE Americas. This role performs advanced technical, administrative, and operational functions that ensure the protection of personnel, property, and critical infrastructure.
The Sr. Physical Security Associate applies developing competencies in governance, compliance, risk assessment, and cross-functional collaboration to maintain secure, standardized, and efficient security operations. The role supports system administration, troubleshooting, documentation, incident support, and project execution activities while contributing to the organization's broader HSSE goals, standards, and security performance expectations.
The role collaborates with corporate security and compliance partners to ensure alignment with internal policies and external regulatory requirements such as NERC/CIP, and supports investigative reviews of physical security incidents, supporting root-cause analysis and remediation planning. The Sr. Associate provides lifecycle oversight of all physical security hardware, software, and vendor relationships, including stewardship of the technology refresh roadmap, while acting as a technical advisor to cross-functional project teams related to facilities expansion, critical asset protection, and operational support.
Role Responsibilities:
Perform advanced coordination and administration of enterprise physical security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and alarms
Support system troubleshooting, device health checks, configuration changes, and ticket resolution while escalating complex technical issues to senior team members or integrators
Oversee day-to-day badge and credential processes, including access change requests, onboarding/offboarding workflows, and access level audits
Assist with planning, logistics, documentation, and execution of physical security installation and upgrade projects across multiple locations
Track and update project milestones, deliverables, and service requests using tools such as SharePoint, Airtable, or other HSSE-approved systems
Coordinate with IT, Facilities, Operations, HR, Compliance, and vendor partners to support project timelines, site readiness, and quality assurance
Conduct preliminary site-level physical security assessments, device functionality checks, or data gathering in support of broader risk assessments led by senior staff
Assist with compliance activities tied to NERC/CIP, ISO, or internal HSSE policies, including audit prep, documentation gathering, and corrective-action tracking
Support the Sr. Director of Physical Security with adhoc projects as needed
Job Requirements and Experiences:
A Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or related field
Advanced degree or certifications preferred
Industry Certification a plus but not required: Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), and/or Physical Security Professional (PSP)
A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in physical security operations required
Experience in project management, with responsibility for physical security systems deliverables
Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
Working knowledge of NERC CIP Physical Security Standards
Ability to lead complex troubleshooting and problem-solving initiatives across multiple sites, managing system integrations, hardware lifecycles, and vendor performance
Ability to develop SOPs, audit systems, and ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., NERC CIP)
Ability to collaborate with cross-functionally with teams, including IT, Operations, Facilities, and Corporate Security
Ability to develop technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), installation standards, and commissioning checklists
In-depth knowledge of physical security best practices, industry standards, and emerging technologies
Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools
Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Work Environment:
This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWE Americas offices and field locations. The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time.

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $100,000-$115,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
