About Logansport State Hospital:
Logansport State Hospital is a state-operated inpatient psychiatric hospital for adults with mental illness. ?Using an interdisciplinary approach and evidence-based programming, we promote recovery and return of the individual to the community.?
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $45,422.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
Therapeutic Activity Facilitation
Directs, instructs, and supervises patients in specialized activities to support rehabilitation goals.
Advises and reinforces patients on acceptable social behavior to promote behavioral improvement using behavior modification and other techniques.
Plans, schedules, and executes therapeutic field trips to enhance patient engagement and community integration.
Patient Monitoring and Documentation
Observes and documents patient progress, attendance, behavior, and outcomes to inform individualized treatment plans.
Makes recommendations regarding changes in activities to optimize therapeutic impact.
Facility and Resource Support
Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
Orders supplies and equipment to support rehabilitation programming.

What You'll Need for Success:
Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:
Think Critically
Specialized knowledge of standard techniques and methods of providing rehabilitation.
Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies related to rehabilitation therapy.
Working knowledge of sociology and psychology as they relate to assessing rehabilitation needs of patients.
Working knowledge of, and ability to implement, behavior modification techniques to complement rehabilitation therapy programs.
Drive for Results
Working knowledge of, and proper use of, special equipment or materials utilized in rehabilitation therapy.
Ability to assess patient's progress and needs, changing instructional methods.
Ability to stimulate patient's interests in specialized activities.
Teach and Communicate
Effective communication skills to support patient instruction and team collaboration.
Education and Experience
At least six (6) months of experience working with persons with mental illness, substance use disorder, co-occurring disorders, or intellectual and developmental delays is required; twelve (12) months preferred
An associate degree is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
Relevant coursework includes art, dance, music, horticulture, occupational therapy, physical education, recreation, rehabilitation counseling, special education, vocational rehabilitation, or accredited college training in a related field.
Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
