Position Description:
This is an exciting full-time opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a team of passionate technologists. We take an innovative approach to supporting our client, working side-by-side in an agile environment using emerging technologies. In this role, you will work closely with data engineers, business analysts, and client stakeholders to deliver insights from large datasets using Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, and modern BI tools. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented analyst with strong SQL skills and experience working in cloud analytics platforms.
This position is located in Arlington, VA.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
. Data Exploration: Analyze, profile, and validate datasets stored in cloud environments to support reporting, dashboarding, and analytical use cases.
. Data Preparation: Use Databricks and Azure Synapse to prepare, transform, and curate datasets for downstream analytics and self-service BI.
. Reporting & Visualization: Develop dashboards and visualizations using leading BI tools to support decision-making across business and technical stakeholders.
. Requirements Gathering: Partner with clients to understand analytical needs, document business requirements, and translate them into data solutions.
. SQL & Analytics: Write optimized SQL queries and analytical logic across Databricks SQL, Synapse SQL, and cloud databases.
. Quality Assurance: Perform data validation, testing, and reconciliation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability of delivered insights.
. Collaboration: Work closely with data engineers to align analytic datasets with data models, ingestion pipelines, and data governance structures.
. Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for datasets, business rules, KPIs, and reporting processes.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
. Education: Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
. Experience: 1-4 years of experience in data analysis, BI development, or reporting.
. Clearance: An interim Secret clearance is required to begin working onsite with our client in Arlington, VA, and a Secret clearance must be maintained throughout the project duration.
Technical Skills:
. Proficiency in SQL for analytics and data querying.
. 2+ Years of experience working on Analytics and Business Intelligence focused initiatives.
. 2+ Years of experience working with self-service business intelligence tools, specifically Power BI, and connecting them to Azure data sources.
. Experience working in cloud-based data platforms, preferably within Azure.
. Familiarity with Databricks for data exploration, SQL analytics, or notebook-based analysis.
. 1+ Years of experience using Python (PySpark) or R to build statistical models or analyze data within a distributed computing environment.
. Understanding of data modeling, KPI definitions, and analytic dataset structures.
. Ability to work with large datasets and distributed data systems.
Soft Skills:
. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
. Clear communication skills with the ability to convey insights to nontechnical audiences.
. Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
. Experience with Databricks SQL, Delta Lake, or Python-based notebooks.
. Knowledge of Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory.
. Experience with BI tools such as Power BI.
. Exposure to data governance, metadata management, or enterprise data catalog tools.
. Familiarity with statistical analysis, forecasting, or predictive modeling concepts.
. Experience working in an Agile-based environment.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $62,900.00 - $153,300.00.
