This full-time role is based in our North Kansas City, MO office, where you will work in office as part of a team working Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Due to the seasonal nature of propane distribution, occasional schedule flexibility may be required to meet the demands of business operations during peak season. Job Title: Accounts Payable Specialist

Summary:
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive financial, administrative, and clerical support to ensure the efficient processing of accounts payable transactions for the organization.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Receive, verify, process, and reconcile accounts payable invoices using accounting software and other relevant programs.
  • Manage accounts payable for multiple entities and vendors.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with new and existing vendors.
  • Perform regular account maintenance and updates.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoice processing in compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Review and compare purchase contracts, pricing, payment terms, and other charges to ensure consistency.
  • Maintain organized and accurate historical records of all transactions.
  • Collaborate closely with finance and marketing departments to ensure compliance with company rules and standards.
  • Provide accounts payable data and documentation to internal and external auditors as requested.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements:
To perform this role effectively, the individual must meet the following qualifications. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • Preferred experience in the oil/gas industry or related commodities field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an accounts payable or similar financial role.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerApps and Power BI is a plus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and ask pertinent questions.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated accountability and reliability in completing assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work overtime as needed to meet deadlines.
