Service Cloud Architect

Role Overview: Pyramid Consulting Cloud Architect Dallas TX (Onsite) Contract Role Summary We are seeking a highly seasoned Senior Cloud Architect with strong SRE capabilities to design, build, automate, and operate large scale enterprise cloud platforms. The ideal candidate has extensive greenfield build from scratch experience, deep technical expertise in Microsoft Azure and also working knowledge of AWS. This role blends enterprise cloud architecture, hands on engineering, and SRE operational excellence, ensuring that cloud platforms are highly available, secure, scalable, automated, and resilient.

• Architect and deploy brand new Azure cloud environments including landing zones, identity, networking, governance, security, monitoring, and automation frameworks.
• Design and implement AWS architectures as a secondary platform (multi cloud and hybrid integration).
• Build cloud foundations using Azure CAF principles, multi subscription patterns, and best practice enterprise guardrails.
• Develop end to end cloud architecture blueprints, HLD/LLD documentation, runbooks, and operational frameworks.
• Implement and operate full observability stacks across Azure and AWS (Log Analytics, Azure Monitor, App Insights, CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, etc.).
• Lead incident response, post incident reviews, and continuous improvement cycles.
• Build self healing, auto scaling, and automated failover capabilities using cloud native services.
• Drive performance engineering, capacity management, dependency mapping, and resilience testing.
• Standardize operational runbooks, error budgets, and continuous reliability improvement processes.
• Build end to end IaC using Terraform, Bicep, ARM, CloudFormation.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and CodePipeline.
• Automate provisioning, patching, compliance, cost governance, image pipelines, and cloud operations.
• Enable zero touch deployment models and automated infrastructure lifecycle management.
• Architect and enforce Zero Trust security models across Azure and AWS.
• Implement strong identity architectures using Microsoft Entra ID, IAM, RBAC, PIM, Conditional Access, Key Vault/KMS, and certificate based authentication.

• Work directly with customer stakeholders to extract detailed infrastructure and application requirements, then design and build the cloud environment from scratch based on those specifications.
• Serve as a senior escalation point for complex cloud, security, and operational issues.
• Build DR/BCP architectures including backup strategies, cross region failover, and multi cloud resilience.
• Lead cloud operational reviews, architectural governance, and cloud strategy steering.
• Mentor engineering teams and champion cloud and SRE best practices across the organization.
• Collaborate with application, network, DevOps, and security teams to deliver end to end hybrid cloud solutions.

• 15+ years of IT experience with 10 12+ years in cloud architecture, primarily Azure.
• Proven track record of greenfield cloud builds (landing zones, identity, automation, monitoring, operations).
• Deep expertise in: Azure: VNETs, VMSS, AVD, PrivateLink, Azure Firewall, App Services, Functions, Storage, Monitor, Log Analytics, Key Vault, Policy.
• AWS : EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, CloudWatch.
• Hybrid networking: ExpressRoute, VPN, TGW, DNS, segmentation.
• IaC: Terraform, Bicep, ARM, CloudFormation.
• SRE stack: monitoring, tracing, dashboards, error budgets, SLIs/SLOs, incident management.

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• AWS Solutions Architect Professional
• Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD) preferred
• Strong scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
• Experience in consulting/MSP environments a plus
• ITIL, DevOps, or SRE related certifications preferred
