Job Title: Transmission Technician – Marc Miller Buick GMC Dealership

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transmission Technician to join our Buick GMC service team. This position focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding automatic and manual transmissions, including late-model electronically controlled units. The ideal candidate has strong diagnostic ability, experience with GM transmission systems, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair transmission concerns, including shifting issues, noise, leaks, and performance complaints
• Perform teardown, inspection, and rebuilding of automatic transmissions
• Work on late-model GM transmissions, including 6-speed, 8-speed, and 10-speed units
• Service and repair vehicles such as GMC Sierra 1500 and GMC Yukon Denali
• Utilize factory diagnostic tools (GDS2, MDI) to perform programming and system diagnostics
• Follow OEM repair procedures, bulletins, and torque specifications
• Perform warranty repairs in compliance with GM policies
• Accurately document all diagnostic steps and completed repairs
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Required Qualifications

• GM Certification strongly recommended (Transmission / Drivetrain certification strongly preferred)
• Proven experience diagnosing and rebuilding transmissions
• Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, valve bodies, and electronic controls
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and technical service information
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Ability to meet flat-rate production standards

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE Certifications (A2, A7, A8 preferred; L1/L2 a plus)
• Experience with GM 10L80 transmission and GM 6L80 transmission platforms
• Prior dealership experience with GM or Buick / GMC
• Experience with transmission programming and adaptive relearns
• Strong attention to detail and comeback prevention mindset
