Teen Summer Camp Counselor

Job Description

2026 NYC Teen Summer Camp – Camp Counselor

New York City, NY | June 28 – August 8, 2026 (three sessions)

ABOUT ENGLISH OUTDOORS

English Outdoors runs immersive summer programs for international teenagers across the UK and North America. Our NYC camp brings together students aged 14–17 from around the world for language learning, cultural excursions, and an unforgettable summer experience. Camp Counselors are the energy behind the program — the people who make every activity memorable and every student feel included.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Camp Counselors support students throughout the program, helping ensure a safe, fun, and engaging experience across New York City. You will lead activities, support group dynamics, help with logistics, and be a key point of contact for students and staff. This is a paid, part-time role across up to three two-week sessions — ideal for someone with energy to spare, a genuine love of working with teenagers, and a solid knowledge of NYC.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for someone who:

· Is energetic, enthusiastic, and genuinely enjoys spending time with teenagers

· Loves leading games and activities — and is creative enough to invent their own when needed

· Is organized and responsible, able to keep track of schedules, students, and logistics simultaneously

· Communicates clearly and confidently — with students, fellow counselors, and program managers

· Is a strong team player who collaborates well and supports colleagues

· Puts student safety and wellbeing first, while keeping the program fun and engaging for all

· Knows NYC well and is confident navigating the city and getting groups around on the subway

· Has experience working with teens in a camp, school, youth work, or similar setting (preferred)

PROGRAM DATES

· Session 1: June 28 – July 11

· Session 2: July 12 – July 25

· Session 3: July 26 – August 8

Candidates may apply for one, two, or all three sessions.

· Supervise students at all times during activities and excursions

· Act as a primary point of contact and support for students
