Stickles PR is a boutique public relations agency working across a range of clients in culture, lifestyle, and emerging brands. We are a lean, fast-moving team focused on securing top-tier media coverage and building meaningful brand visibility.

We’re growing and looking for a Junior Publicist / PR Coordinator to support day-to-day media relations and outreach efforts.

The Role

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role supporting media outreach across multiple clients. We’re looking for someone who understands how PR actually works — not just in theory — and can contribute immediately.

This role is ideal for someone early in their PR career who has strong fundamentals and wants to sharpen their media relations skills in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain targeted media lists using tools like Muck Rack
• Research editors, journalists, and outlets relevant to client industries
• Monitor daily news and identify timely media opportunities
• Draft and send pitches to media contacts
• Conduct consistent, proactive outreach to secure media placements
• Track and report on media coverage (links, placements, etc.)
• Support ongoing PR initiatives and client needs
• Assist with general research and industry monitoring across client verticals

What We’re Looking For

• 1–2 years of PR experience (agency experience strongly preferred)
• Proven track record of securing media coverage (this is a must)
• Strong understanding of media relations and pitching
• Experience using Muck Rack (or similar media database tools)
• Excellent research skills — you know how to find the right contacts, not just any contacts
• Strong writing skills, especially for pitches
• Highly proactive and able to work independently
• Organized and able to manage multiple priorities

Bonus (not required):

• Experience in wellness, lifestyle, beauty, or culture-focused brands

Additional Details

• Must be based in New York (or surrounding tri-state area)
• Ability to meet in person 1–2x per week as needed
• This is a part-time freelance role (not full-time, no benefits)

What Success Looks Like in This Role

• Consistent media outreach happening weekly (not sporadically)
• High-quality, targeted media lists
• Strong pitch writing and follow-up
• Actual media placements being secured (not just activity)
