Case Manager Family Services Unit

Department: Clinton County Job & Family Services- Family Services Unit

Report To: Family Services Administrator or Supervisor Employment Status: Full-Time

Classification: Classified (Non Exempt)

Schedule: Monday--Friday, 7:30 a.m.--4:30 p.m. Base Pay Rate: $19.18/hour Probationary Period: 365 Days

About the Role

The Family Services Case Manager plays a key role in supporting individuals and families in Clinton County by determining eligibility for public assistance programs and helping customers navigate services that promote stability and self-sufficiency. This position requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work with individuals who may be facing difficult circumstances

What You'll Do

Conduct interactive interviews to determine eligibility for programs such as Ohio Works First, Medicaid, and SNAP.

Gather and verify required documentation; compute budgets and make eligibility determinations.

Use the Ohio Benefits system and other software platforms to manage and monitor cases.

Process case changes, schedule appointments, release medical cards, and respond to alerts.

Complete family assessments, provide referrals to community resources, and explain program rights and responsibilities.

Investigate and process fraud cases, overpayments, and underpayments.

Assess employability, determine work participation requirements, assign work activities, and track compliance.

Prepare accurate, timely documentation, including reports, forms, narratives, and correspondence.

Participate in county conferences, state hearings, and court proceedings when required; collaborate with law enforcement when necessary.

Attend meetings, trainings, and workshops to stay current on policies and procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED

Valid Ohio Driver's License, liability insurance, and reliable transportation.

Ability to pass background checks: BCI, FBI, SACWIS, BMV, and drug screening.

Regular, reliable attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

Training, education, or experience in public assistance or a related field

Strong communication and organizational skills

Experience using computers and software programs

Basic math proficiency

Ability to work effectively with individuals in challenging situations
