JOB DESCRIPTION:
Research in laboratory mice using viral vectors, chemogenetics and optogenetics in mouse models of epilepsy and Alzheimer's disease. Electrophysiology, behavior and anatomy will be performed in vivo and in slices. A PhD or MD PhD is required, as well as a background in these approaches. The applicant will need a strong knowledge of scientific writing, computer skills and statistics. Experience with submission of grant applications is valuable. Individuals in training to ultimately establish their own laboratory are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and two years of professional research in an appropriate field or master's degree in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of the experience.

Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment. 2) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
