About this opportunity:
Cenovus is now seeking a Construction Manager to oversee the safe, efficient, and reliable execution of our US Major Projects group. This role is responsible for managing contractors and ensuring excellence in Safety, Quality, Scheduling, and Cost through disciplined use of Cenovus policies/procedures. The position focuses exclusively on Major Projects and does not typically include site projects, TAR activities, or other unrelated work. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong functional leadership, effective time management, and the ability to delegate while maintaining clear oversight. Success in this role requires exceptional communication skills and the ability to establish and sustain an accountability model for construction execution.
What you'll do:
Execute construction projects utilizing Cenovus developed tools for Downstream US Major Projects
Implement Cenovus policies and procedures as applicable to the project scope of work
Provide guidance, advice and training to project team, contractors, suppliers, inspectors and third parties as required to confirm understanding of the construction objectives and expectations
Review for acceptance, contractor's programs and execution plans
Identify and manage the resources required to execute the approved scopes of work and schedule to support project execution
Align Cenovus expectations with all Contractors during the pre-bid, bid and execution cycles
Who you are:
Legally authorized to work in the US
12+ years of experience in a construction role within a refinery or closely related work environment
High school diploma or equivalent required
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, a trade certification, or other form of secondary education considered an asset
Ability to enforce safe work practices and mature safety culture
A combination of practical trade experience + formal construction management training
Working knowledge with the following: OSHA, scheduling (critical path, look-ahead schedules), budgeting, cost control, forecasting, change management - RFIs, submittals, risk assessment & mitigation
