Histotechnicians will utilize both manual and automated techniques to produce high-quality pathology slides, while Clinical Lab Scientists will oversee the accuracy and quality of results across all phases of testing. Key Duties:
Laboratory Operations (CLS): Follow pre-analytic and analytic procedures, maintaining meticulous records for proficiency testing and patient specimens.
Histological Excellence (Histo): Perform embedding and sectioning of tissue blocks. Evaluate routine (H&E), special, and immunohistochemistry stains for accuracy before releasing slides.
Quality Assurance: Adhere to all quality control activities, calibrations, and equipment verifications. Identify and document any deviations from performance specifications.
Regulatory Compliance: Participate in regulatory readiness for CAP, AABB, NYSDOH, and the Joint Commission. Ensure all testing meets CLIA requirements.
Clinical Collaboration: Confirm and communicate critical values to clinicians and patient units while maintaining strict STAT turnaround times.
Inventory & Maintenance: Manage lot numbers, expiration dates, and labeling. Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory instrumentation.
Continuous Growth: Participate in validations, training, and competency assessments, maintaining at least 12 continuing education credits per year.
For CLS Candidates: * Current NYS License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or NYS PA License.
Education in accordance with NYS Office of Professions and CLIA testing personnel requirements.
For Histotechnician Candidates: * NYS Clinical Laboratory Technician License or NYS Histotechnician License.
Health & Safety: Flu Vaccine required (No exceptions).
Skills: Proficiency in adhering to performance standards, policies, and professional behaviors in a laboratory setting.
Certification: ASCP Certification is highly preferred for both roles.
Education (Histo): Degree in Medical Technology or a related science preferred.
Experience (Histo): One year of relevant hospital experience in Histology is preferred.

Schedule: Varied shifts available; Monday – Friday (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM).
