Job Title : Literacy Intervention Teacher

Reports To: Executive Director, Principal

Supervises: NA

Status: Full-Time, Exempt, Both Campuses

START DATE: 2024-2025 School Year - in person

Position Summary:

  • To create and maintain a learning environment that supports the school’s mission.
  • Works within the Academic Department and collaborates with said department as well as the principal to implement and support a school-wide literacy program.
  • To improve school-wide literacy levels by supporting other teachers and faculty with curricula planning and literacy training.
  • To develop and improve students’ literacy skills by providing supplemental instruction to students who have challenges with reading and writing.
  • Utilizes the school’s approved ELA curriculum in order to lead each child to educational success.
  • Instill self-esteem, confidence and a positive attitude in every child.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Uses MN State Standards and MN Academic benchmarks to write appropriate lesson plans and adaptations.
  • Provide reading instruction related to literacy support for identified students.
  • Provide data, planning, implementation, and monitoring support for students' literacy intervention plans.
  • Integrates school-adopted ELA curriculum into coherent lessons designed to maximize students’ potential.
  • Leads and facilitates team meetings and collaboration with teachers in designated classrooms.
  • Communicates effectively, appropriately, and timely with families and caregivers, providing relevant educational information when needed.
  • Provides literacy training and feedback to staff in designated classrooms.
  • Evaluates students using appropriate and district approved assessment tools.
  • Understands and implements School-wide Discipline Policy and how it relates to special education students.
  • Organize and monitor literacy professional development as related to the READ Act.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with assistive technology.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Current Minnesota Teaching licensure . Experience with Elementary Education and Special Education. and MN disciplinary incidence research.
  • Excellent oral, written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or move quickly to contain a student.
  • Ability to interact well with internal staff, students and parents.
  • Detail oriented and flexible
  • Professional demeanor and appearance with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and resourceful in the completion of work assignments.
  • Sense of accountability and ownership for work results.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of the following computer applications: MacBook equipment.
  • Ability to maintain status of “not disqualified” upon completion of criminal background
