Manhattan Day School, a Modern Orthodox Jewish day school on the Upper West Side, is seeking a skilled, thoughtful, and collaborative Special Educator to join our Kindergarten team.
Our Early Childhood programs are rooted in relationship-based learning, developmentally responsive practice, and strong partnerships with families. We are looking for an educator with deep expertise in behavioral management, executive functioning, and emotional regulation who can support students through a push-in/push-out model while working closely with classroom teachers.
Responsibilities include:
Providing individualized and small-group academic support within and outside the classroom
Designing and implementing targeted interventions aligned with student learning goals
Supporting students in developing executive functioning skills such as task initiation, organization, flexibility, and self-monitoring
Creating and implementing proactive behavior plans rooted in skill-building strategies
Collaborating closely with classroom teachers, specialists, administrators, and families
Monitoring student progress and maintaining clear documentation
Participating in team meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives
Qualifications:
NYS certification in Special Education (required)
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (Master’s preferred)
Experience supporting early childhood or elementary-aged students
Strong background in behavioral management and executive functioning support
Calm, structured, and proactive approach to student support
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-based model
Salary commensurate with experience.
