Teacher aide

Permanent / Part time / Term Time Only (School holidays are not worked) 12 hours / week Wellington East Girls' College requires a Kaiāwhina to support students in the classroom with their learning. Applicants should be personable, work well within a team and have a passion for working with young people. This role is permanent hours of 12 hours per week commencing as soon as possible. Our aim is to support students to become as independent as possible by developing literacy, numeracy, academic, life and social skills. We are looking for an experienced teacher aide who: * Delivers lessons to students in group and individual learning situations to develop their literacy skills * Has a strong skillset in mathematics * Is open to learning new strategies and approaches to supporting students who are struggling with their literacy learning * Is able to support students with exams by reading and writing for them when required Previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage. The Job description can be found on our website - www.wegc.school.nz The successful applicant should ideally * Be an experienced Teacher Aide * Positive, self-motivated and have a sense of humour * Willing to work as a co-operative member of a team * Display initiative * Reliable and punctual * Feel confident to support Mathematics classes As you will be working in a School environment (as per the Education and Training Act 2020 and the Children’s Act 2014) a satisfactory safety check (including police vetting) is required.
