POSITION OVERVIEW

White Pine Middle School is seeking a passionate, student-centered teacher committed to meeting the academic and developmental needs of middle-level learners. The ideal candidate believes in teaching the whole child, takes ownership of student growth, and adapts instruction to ensure all students—especially those with unique learning challenges—can succeed. Regular, in-person attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (highly preferred)
  • Endorsement in English (BA) or English Language Arts (BX)
  • Middle-level education experience or training preferred
  • Additional endorsements in Science (DI or DX), Social Studies (RX), or Mathematics (EX) desirable but not required

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and deliver ELA instruction aligned with Michigan Academic Standards
  • Teach reading comprehension, literature analysis, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and speaking/listening skills
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, including guided reading, writing workshops, and collaborative learning
  • Incorporate diverse texts and culturally responsive materials
  • Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, including writing assignments and projects
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students with IEPs and English Language Learners
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student growth
  • Integrate technology to enhance literacy instruction
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student voice and engagement
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
  • Collaborate with colleagues, intervention staff, and administration
  • Participate in professional development and school improvement efforts

COMPENSATION

  • Approximately 185 workdays (August–June)
  • Compensation per Saginaw Township Education Association (STEA) collective bargaining agreement:
    • $46,041 starting salary (Bachelor’s, no experience)
    • $53,882 starting salary (Master’s, no experience)
  • Contract through July 31, 2027

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position may require bending, reaching, twisting, pushing or pulling items, lifting or carrying materials up to approximately 40 pounds, and standing and/or walking for extended periods during the workday.
