Science Kit Production Assistant

Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented Production Assistant to help us build the "lab in a box" experiences that bring science to life in the classroom. You will be responsible for assembling hands-on science kits used by teachers to facilitate experiments for kids.

If you enjoy working with your hands and want to support STEM education by ensuring teachers have exactly what they need for a successful lesson, this is the role for you!

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Precision Assembly: Carefully counting and kitting scientific components—everything from magnifying glass sets and graduated cylinders to specific amounts of "experiment ingredients" (seeds, magnets, clay, etc.).
  • Workflow Management: Using Trello to track production stages, update kit statuses, and communicate where you are in the assembly queue.
  • Technical Quality Control: Double-checking that every kit matches the teacher’s lesson plan requirements. Accuracy is vital; a missing component means an experiment can't happen!
  • Organization & Sorting: Managing bulk inventory of science supplies and keeping the production area "lab-ready" and organized.
  • Instructional Preparation: Collating and inserting lesson guides, safety sheets, and worksheets into the appropriate kits.

What We’re Looking For

  • Organization Tech-Savvy: Previous experience with Trello is preferred. We use it to stay organized, so being comfortable moving cards and updating checklists digitally is a huge plus.
  • The "Science Mindset": You don't need a PhD, but you should be methodical, organized, and appreciate the importance of accuracy.
  • Focus & Consistency: Ability to maintain high energy and precision during repetitive assembly tasks.
  • Reliability: You take pride in knowing that a classroom of kids is counting on your work being 100% correct.
  • Physical Ability: Able to stand for periods of time and lift bins/boxes up to 30 lbs.

Perks

  • Competitive Pay: $18–$22 per hour.
  • Impactful Work: You are directly enabling hands-on learning and helping teachers inspire the next generation of scientists.
  • Great Environment: A clean, organized, and purposeful workspace.
  • Steady Schedule: Consistent daytime hours.

How to Apply

Tell us why you’d be a great fit for our production team! Please send a brief summary of your work experience (assembly, retail, or hobbyist experience is all relevant), your experience with Trello, and your weekly availability to info@thetinyscientist.com.
