Job Opening Summary

An experienced Surgical Coder acts as a specialist in reviewing operative reports and assigning accurate ICD-10, CPT, and modifier codes to ensure maximum compliant reimbursement.

Qualifications: Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

* Minimum Experience: Generally 1–3 years of professional coding experience required, often with specific focus on surgical abstraction.

* Certification: CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) from AAPC or AHIMA is required.

* Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

* Minimum 2 years of surgical medical coding experience required.

* Proficiency in EMR systems (e.g., Epic)

* Strong knowledge of Medicare LCDs/NCDs and commercial insurance guidelines.

* Experience in Orthopedics, Plastic, or General Surgery is often a plus.

Core Responsibilities:

* Surgical Review: Review complex operative reports and physician documentation to accurately assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS codes and Modifiers.

* Revenue Capture: Resolve discrepancies, claim scrubber edits, and coding-related denials to optimize revenue cycle operations.

* Documentation Improvement: Query physicians and clinical staff regarding ambiguous, missing, or contradictory documentation.

* Multi-specialty Focus: Handle coding across various specialties, often covering neurosurgery, thoracic, general, orthopedic surgery, etc..

Salary Range:

Minimum 2 years’ experience in surgical coding – Hourly: $21 and above - Commensurate to experience

Job Type: Full-time- Monday to Friday, In Person
