Middle School Math Teacher (Grades 6th– 8th)

St. James School in Stratford is hiring a Middle School Math Teacher (6th-8th grade) for the 2026-27 school year. Candidates must have a love for working with children 12-14 years old; is kind, caring, and patient; and is excited about teaching math.

Main RESPONSIBILITIES (The description below is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all-inclusive of every task or responsibility)
- Demonstrates effective planning skills by preparing engaging lessons designed to implement stated objectives
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning
- Demonstrates competence in teaching by having current knowledge of subject matter
- Demonstrates strong management skills aligned with an approach that includes: intentional language, growth mindset approaches, firm and clear boundaries, and empathy
- Can communicate and connect effectively and appropriately with students
- Has the ability to organize an engaging and effective classroom learning environment
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learning of current developments in education
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in Education or a related discipline to teaching assignment
- Have or willing to obtain a Valid State Teaching Certification in the appropriate grade level and/or subject
- Experience teaching Math
- Loves teaching and working with middle school students!
- Believes in God
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in Math or Education
- Practicing Catholic
- Successful prior teaching experience in a 6th, 7th, or 8thgrade school environment
